Nintendo Announces 23 Games Launching with Wii U This November

From X-bit Labs: Nintendo on Wednesday unveiled the lineup of video games that will become available along with the Wii U console. The new game system will be supported by the largest launch-day video game lineup in the history of Nintendo. Among the 23 titles set to become available on November 18, there are games from Nintendo as well as from leading third-party developers.

"We are making sure that Wii U owners will have great games to play from the moment they open the box, and that a steady stream of fun new games is always on the way. We have something for everyone, from new franchises to creative new approaches to familiar favoritea," said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s president and COO.

In addition to 23 video games for Wii U that will launch on the same day as the console, another 29 titles are planned to hit the market by the end of March, 2013. These include Nintendo-published games like Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U, Sing Party and Ninja Gaiden 3 3: Razor’s Edge, as well as third-party powerhouses like ZombiU from Ubisoft, Call of Duty: Black Ops II from Activision, Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two from Disney Interactive, EA Sports FIFA Soccer 13 from Electronic Arts and Scribblenauts Unlimited from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

Nintendo did promise last year that with Nintendo Wii U it would put special attention on making sure that third-party game developers create enough titles for the console, which would help to make the system popular among hardcore gamers, the audience Nintendo has not directly addressed for about a decade now. The company has managed to ensure rather huge launch lineup, but it remains to be seen now, whether gamers will actually get the new consoles along with a set of games already available for Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3.

Nintendo Wii U is based on a custom IBM Power microprocessor equipped with 1GB of system memory as well as a modern custom AMD Radeon HD graphics processing unit with high-definition graphics and video support that is equipped with 1GB of graphics memory. The consoles come with 32GB or 8GB of NAND flash storage and an optical drive to read custom discs.

Nintendo Wii U console will land in the U.S. on November 18 in two versions: the basic bundle for $299 and premium bundle for $349.
