AMD Cuts Prices on Radeon HD 7900 and 7800 Families of Graphics Cards

From X-bit Labs: Advanced Micro Devices on Monday reduced pricing of select AMD Radeon HD 7900- and 7800-series graphics cards in order to better compete against recently launched Nvidia Corp.'s GeForce GTX 660 Ti. The new prices will become effective later this week.

As a result of the price-slashes, AMD Radeon HD 7950 3GB (including the ones that have PowerTune with Boost) will cost $319, the official price of the Radeon HD 7870 2GB GHz Edition will be $249, the Radeon HD 7850 2GB will carry price-tag of $209 and the Radeon HD 7850 1GB will be priced at $189.

"We are announcing a few price moves for our enthusiast and performance class of products. [...] We feel, that with this move, we continue to offer the best performance/dollar in the high-end segment of the graphics market today," an official statement by AMD reads.

AMD previously slashed prices of its graphics cards in mid-July.

The AMD Radeon HD 7700-, 7800- and 7900-series graphics cards support all the advantages that the graphics core next (GCN) architecture has to offer, including support for DirectX 11.1, OpenCL 1.2, PCI Express 3.0, AMD Eyefinity 2.0, ultra high-definition output support using DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 1.4a, optimized power consumption, integrated 7.1 audio controller, stereo-3D/Blu-ray 3D support, and other new technologies.
